Have you at any time thought about experimenting with body piercing? If the answer is yes then I fully support it and say go for it! Piercing is definitely an art and looks incredible when performed on the ears and eye brows. A lot of people choose piercing, because it's in style. Piercing can be carried out on the navel, the ears, and the tongue as well as pretty much any area of the entire body.

Body piercing is by no means a new manner of decorating an individual. This has been identified all through history. Previously it had been a ritual, now it's all about fashion. Whatever reason a person may have for getting a body piercing, the end result is something the wearer finds to be aesthetically pleasing. Our generation is willing to do pretty much anything possible to make themselves stand out in the crowd. Piercing done on body is one of those things. History gives us reason to believe that both lip piercing and tongue piercing was fashionable during ancient times and ear and nose piercing were also very popular body modifications. It is still very common among many tribal cultures who consider it to be an important ritual custom.

Even though body piercing is today considered as fashion, it is a serious matter as the healing process can be fairly complicated depending on which part of the body the piercing is located in and how safely the piercing has been carried out. The most important thing that anyone should consider before opting for body piercing is how hygienic the piercing studio is. The choice of jewelry is another important criterion before getting body pierced. Implant grade stainless steel, gold and also titanium are typically utilized in body piercing as these are the safest choices. Silver, although cheap is a poor choice for body piercing. It may seem strange to the older generation that young people are punching all sorts of holes in their body parts, but no doubt our predecessors had some pretty odd fashions in their day as well!

The social acceptance of body modification in our society has been rising over the years and hence more and more youngsters are going for body piercing. The safety and complication part should always be kept in mind before piercing as results show that any place other than the ears attract complications and therefore fashion should go hand in hand with safety and hygiene to make a person more attractive.

Nipple Piercing & Breast Feeding

One of my friends totally shocked me this week by going to get her nipples pierced! She isn't some hardcore body modification nut, she only has her ears pierced and she has never even expressed even the remotest interest in nipple piercing or any other piercing. In fact the odd time the topic has come up she seems to be a bit uncomfortable or grossed out, so it was definitely something of a shock when she came over all excited and whipped open her shirt to show me!!

Nipple piercing isn't something I have considered myself, despite my other body piercings, so I was really interested in how it went. She told me that as long ass there are no complications they would heal up in 2 to 4 months. That seems like a really long time, but I guess it isn't really. The piercer did warn that some people find it is about 18 months before they heal properly.

The piercer did mention something interesting to her afterwards. I guess they were talking about if they had kids and stuff and my friend said no but she would like some in future. The piercer suddenly said, “well you can still breastfeed.” She thought it strange at the time, but talking about it we agreed that it is actually something you probably never think about when getting a nipple piercing, but once we did we kind of leaned towards thinking you wouldn't be able to! So we looked up some information and so long as it's done properly and the milk ducts are not damaged you can easily breast feed although you do need to take the jewellery out obviously.

Let's Talk Organic Body Plugs

Plugs have become very common nowadays. Their beauty is making young teen really envy their mates who have the same kind of plugs. They can be worn on any part of the body. They can be worn on the ears, nose, lips, navel and other various parts of the body. Plugs are divided into different types according to the material used to make them. They can either be made from metal, gold, silver, shells, horns and other materials. Those made of natural materials are called organic plugs.

Most people prefer using organic plugs since they are cheap, light, can be found almost in all stall and those are just a few reasons. They are very beautiful resulting to high sales. However, before wearing an organic plug your ears should be pierced properly. After piercing, it is time to enlarge the hole to the desired size. There are various ways that one can increase the piercing to be able to wear the desired size of plugs.

a) Tapering-It is made of a tape that cannot cause infections to your ears. Then it is used by taping it around a fistula which is put in the piercing until the widest part is fully inside the piercing. A jewellery that’s wide is then pushed into the piercing depending on the size which the owner wants. What happens is that after some time, the tape is increased and put in the hole until the desired size of hole is reached. This can be a method to increase the pierce but professionals do not recommend it. It is also important, to know that tape sizes above 6mm is highly discouraged. After this process and healing, you can now look beautiful by wearing organic plugs.

b) Plugs made from silicon can be used since they are very soft. Once they have been inserted on the ear, they expand .It is not very advisable to use because it is porus. Since it becomes very tight, it can lead to infections that could spread. It is also possible for them to expand to a point of blowing out.

c) Weight-To increases the piercing: others use very heavy ornaments or jewellery to enable the piercing to stretch. It was a method that was widely used in the past.

d) Dermal punch.-A circle shaped razor of the size you want is placed on the skin where you want it, the blade is pushed downwards then twisted. A small piece of skin is removed leaving the desired size. The razor is removed and an ornament of the same size is put on the pierce. It is good since it is less painful than the other methods. Make sure you disinfect t and also treat it with warm water and salt until it is fully healed.

e) Dead stretching-It is a method that is very common. What people do is insert ornaments that are wider than the pierce. The advantages with the method is safe since it is very hard for one to have side effects if this method is used.

What Is Body Modification?

Body modification is the planned change of the body for cosmetic and non-medical reasons. Body modification isn't a modern hype, this has been around for many, many years. Body modification (or body alteration ) is the information long term or semi-permanent purposeful changing of the body for non-medical motives, frequently faith based or cosmetic .

By the late nineteen sixties, when piercings entered fashion, it was primarily from the hippy and gay and lesbian communities. That is certainly where the vast majority of stigma attached to them came from. My parents were forever warning that those who participated in body modification would be rendered unemployable. Nevertheless, despite the fact that I have since removed them, in the nineties, I had piercings and tattoo designs yet still was able to land employment in commercial finance as well as in banking institutions. Piercings are removable - but tend to leave scars. Piercing is puncturing any part of the body in order to add jewelry or ornamentation. Just like with body piercings, tattoos should be performed by specialists, not at home or by your buddy with a regular sewing needle and a container of Indian ink.

Ear piercing is probably one of the oldest known forms of body modification and can be seen all around the globe in various different cultures. Earlobe piercing is the most socially acceptable form of body piercing in industrialized countries. This has gradually evolved into ear stretching. Ear stretching has been available since the Egyptians so i don't see that type of body modification ceasing in the near future. Ear-rings are pretty much becoming an essential element of every wardrobe.

Body Modification requires an injury to the skin that requires healing. It is not something to be done lightly and it is certainly not without risk of infection or other complications. If you are going to have a piercing, a tattoo or some other type of body modification then you must make sure that it is done by a qualified person with strict hygiene standards.

The Risks Of Genital Piercings For Women

It has been fashionable to have pierced ears for a very long time, and today around 85% of all females are believed to have ear piercings. There is also a long history of other types of body piercing and bodymodification all over the world. Usually these stem from cultural rituals but have made their way into the Western world as fashion statements. One such ritual is genital piercings. It is commonly misconstrued that this is the domain of rock stars and deviants, but you might be surprised to learn just what many seemingly conservative ladies have hidden under their skirts.

Vaginal piercings are becoming increasingly popular and can be placed in three areas:
  • Clitoris/Clitoral Hood
  • Outer/Inner Labia
  • Princess Albertina (through the urethra)

There are various reasons one might decide to have a genital piercing, and in case you are wondering … No! Claire is not one of those aforementioned 'seemingly conservative women' hiding something under her skirt! Regardless of the reason for wanting this type of body modification, it is important to be aware of the risks that come with it.

Like any piercing, there is always a risk of infection. After all you are opening up your body to insert a foreign object. If your piercing studio is not reputable you could be at risk of tetanus, HIV, hepatitis B and many other infections. There is also a risk of heavy bleeding, scarring and allergic reaction. In the case of clitoral piercing there is a chance that the blood flow can be interrupted causing loss of feeling.

There is also a risk of migration or rejection, but that is true of all piercings. In short, genital piercings do not carry any more risk than other piercings. The health risks come from not tending to any complications. Due to the location, if any infection is not treated then it could spread. Due to the proximity of genital piercings to the reproductive organs this could mean there is an impact on a woman's fertility.

Why Organics Plug Are Where It's At!

With the advent of the new independent and individualistic school of thought, came the widespread feeling of self liberation of modern day youngsters. Each and every new age teenager feels that he or she needs to express themselves in the most unique way possible. Thus came the culture of tattoo art, scarification and most commonly, piercing. The latter is probably the most common due to two reasons, the affordability and the versatility of the same. However, the youngsters simply couldn’t stop at the simple earring, they had to go bigger, more intense, and of course, more painful. Thus ear plugs were born. For the more natural individuals, organic plugs were merchandised.

With the urban culture of ear piercing and insertion of body plugs gaining popularity, the question of hygiene has cropped up into the mix. Especially in the case of ear gauges, frequent cleaning of the ears is required. Stretched ears with gauges put in do not allow for dead skin cells to fall off the earlobe. When the gauge is attached, the dead skin cells attach to the ear rings and are trapped in the inside of the earlobe. If not cleaned away often, these result in infection of the lobe and emit a foul smell, especially in organic plugs. Thus cleaning is paramount.

The first step in cleaning your organic plugs is to remove them from the earlobe. Then squirt a dime sized amount of liquid soap onto the jewelry. Rub the soap on the outside and inside of the plug while allowing warm water to run from the faucet of the water source onto the earring itself. Proceed to wash the earrings until dried and dead skin cells and dirt are no longer present on your earrings. Rinse the plugs with cool water and dry your earrings with a paper towel.

After having done the above, proceed to drip a small amount of oil, such as emu or jojoba oil onto a clean cloth. Then rub the cloth on the inside and outside of the organic plug. It helps to maintain the sheen of the plug and keep it moisturized well enough. In addition, lather your hands with liquid soap and warm water. Then insert one finger into the inside of your earlobe piercing. Rub the soapy finger in a circular motion along the inside of the earlobe piercing. After having done this, repeat the motion for the outside of the earlobe piercing and at the front and back of the ear lobe. You can then proceed to insert your plugs into the piercing and pat dry.

With our focus being on organic plugs, there is much that is offered in this type of plugs than any other plugs. First of all, they are mostly made of horn and wood. However, any other organic material that you can get your hands on and carve into a plug is pretty much okay. Horn is generally preferred for many reasons. The material itself is lightweight and can easily be carved into many shapes and sizes. Moreover, it can be cultured into many different colours and shades depending on the liking of the customer himself.
