What Is Body Modification?

Body modification is the planned change of the body for cosmetic and non-medical reasons. Body modification isn't a modern hype, this has been around for many, many years. Body modification (or body alteration ) is the information long term or semi-permanent purposeful changing of the body for non-medical motives, frequently faith based or cosmetic .

By the late nineteen sixties, when piercings entered fashion, it was primarily from the hippy and gay and lesbian communities. That is certainly where the vast majority of stigma attached to them came from. My parents were forever warning that those who participated in body modification would be rendered unemployable. Nevertheless, despite the fact that I have since removed them, in the nineties, I had piercings and tattoo designs yet still was able to land employment in commercial finance as well as in banking institutions. Piercings are removable - but tend to leave scars. Piercing is puncturing any part of the body in order to add jewelry or ornamentation. Just like with body piercings, tattoos should be performed by specialists, not at home or by your buddy with a regular sewing needle and a container of Indian ink.

Ear piercing is probably one of the oldest known forms of body modification and can be seen all around the globe in various different cultures. Earlobe piercing is the most socially acceptable form of body piercing in industrialized countries. This has gradually evolved into ear stretching. Ear stretching has been available since the Egyptians so i don't see that type of body modification ceasing in the near future. Ear-rings are pretty much becoming an essential element of every wardrobe.

Body Modification requires an injury to the skin that requires healing. It is not something to be done lightly and it is certainly not without risk of infection or other complications. If you are going to have a piercing, a tattoo or some other type of body modification then you must make sure that it is done by a qualified person with strict hygiene standards.
