Body modifications in the workplace

For the reason that many youthful people have acquired body modifications now than in preceding years, companies have had to adjust their attitudes and company policies regarding body modifications. Some body modification specialists such as tattooists and others who deal in ear stretching and organic plugs have noticed that more and more teens are going for the more extreme kinds of body modifications without giving a thought about their future employment plans. 

In the not too distant past, places such as tattoo parlors were seen as the preserve of the so called “riffraff”, however, these days body modification has become more and more popular and therefore these kinds of places are being frequented by professional people too.

Once associated with gang members, the military and convicts, tattoos have gained a more popular mainstream following in recent years and can be seen being sported by people from all walks of life from garbage men to teachers and doctors.

For the reason that so many possible employees have modified their body in some way we are seeing a change in the attitude of big businesses and their rules on body modifications in the workplace. Of course certain industries will be more receptive to body art than others, and these include jobs involved with the arts and also jobs at the lower end of the pay scale.

However, there is still some resistance to body modification in certain areas of big business and some companies would rather steer clear of employing anybody who has a noticeable piercing or tattoo.

On the other hand, a lot of observers believe that it is merely a matter of time before tattoos, piercings, gauging and other forms of body modification are universally accepted by employers who have grown up and are used to this form of artistic expression.

When Body Modifications Go Extreme

My girlfriends and I were hanging out the other day and got into a huge discussion about body modifications. Some of us in the group have them, but others did not. All of us have our ears pierced. Most people don’t seem to remember that traditional ear piercings are body modifications as well. Most people seem to think that body modifications only refer to the more extreme things that people do to their bodies. In the discussion with my friends, we all had differing opinions on what is considered a real modification, and what is not. One thing is for sure we all had our opinions when it came to people altering their bodies through piercings, and tattoos.

We did all agree on one thing, even though we won’t go as extreme as other people do with their body mods, there are some people out there that get absolutely amazing tattoos on their bodies. A couple of our friends have tribal tattoos around their arms or ankles; some have small designs like roses or butterflies, where others have the “tramp stamps” on their lower backs. Most of my girlfriends said the reasons they get them are that they like the uniqueness of them, and they like how cool they look. Not to mention they are the first ones to admit that having tattoos gets attention.

The friends that have a variety of body piercings say they get those for the same reasons as well. They like to do something unique that enhances their looks. A couple of my friends said that the reason they get some of the more extreme piercings is for the sexual benefits. One of our girlfriends said that her nipple piercings and tongue piercings definitely added something to her sex life. Other friends of ours have more extreme piercings than they wouldn’t really get into the details. We didn’t press either.

The only conclusion that my girlfriends and I came to was that no matter what form of body mods any of us get, people shouldn’t judge. Piercings and tattoos are a form of personal expression, not something done to hurt anyone.

Stretching Her Ears

My friend decided that she wanted to do something different for her birthday this year, so a couple of us went with her to watch her start the process of getting her ears stretched! She has been a huge fan of body modifications forever, even has a few other body piercings and tattoo. She just decided that this year she wanted to go with something different for her. She was so excited about getting it done that’s why she wanted some of her friends to go with her to take pictures. She has to show everyone she’s no chicken and can handle the procedure.

So, we went down there, and before they did anything to her ears, they went through everything that she needed to know about the proper aftercare. They let her know when she could change out the plug that they were putting in her ear and all that kind of thing. After they were done with that, they started the ear stretching. It didn’t take as long as any of us thought it would. She had a little discomfort but man when she got it done, it looked so damn cool, and it was just put in! 

My friend has to let it heal but then we are going to find her some new cool body plugs. Someone outside of the shop where she got her ears pierced told her how cool her ears looked. The dude had his ears pierced much larger than she had. Told us about some places where you can get some really cool body plugs if she was interested. I am going to have to check out their websites and see what they have. Might as well, can surprise my friend with a gift!

I am so glad that I went with my friend to see her get her ears stretched for the first time. I didn’t realize how cool they were and how many different kinds of body plugs were available for them. Just because people make the decision to have some kind of body modification done, doesn’t mean that they can’t look stylish at the same time!

Extreme body modification for women

Some social commentators call it mutilation, but for those who sport the more extreme kinds of body art call it modification. Here are four ladies who literally bear their art on their skin. Anne and her partner operate two piercing stores in Los Angeles, California. However, it is not exactly ears they are piercing on the contrary you see Anne is what is known as a play-piercer. She will pierce anything including arms and legs, necks and backs.

During daylight hours, Heather is responsible for multi-million dollar estates, however, when she leaves her 9 to 5 job that is when she leaves her family and work life behind and transforms into her alter ego called Cookie. Cookie’s passage through body modification began with getting her ears pierced however, she did not stop there.

These days she is literally swathed with tattoos and has an assortment of implants in her sub-dermal layer and each one has a specific meaning to them that is personal to Cookie. Michelle used to be a bit of a dissenter who stunned her mother when she acquired a tattoo when is she was in her teenage years. She left school and went to study art whilst maintaining her love of tattoos. In the face of antagonism from her mother and defiance from the chap subjugated tattoo world Michelle carried on. At the moment she is the solitary female tattoo artist in New York City to have possession of two prosperous tattoo parlors.

Natalie really enjoys body modification as well as her freedom and as a result she is going to showcase it in a severe way.
